A large multinational business was evaluating the risk associated with acquiring a China-based publicly traded company.

Using solid court and regulatory research as well as informed local sources, we determined that a key stakeholder in the Shanghai company had been involved in fraudulent business schemes. IGGC informed the client that the stakeholder’s history had been concealed and that his political connections that enabled him to avoid prosecution.

This significant finding enabled the client to mitigate financial and reputational risks, and they adjusted their acquisition strategy accordingly.
